[13/01/2011] Recipes for Ice Cream Makers
If you walk into any supermarket or grocery store, you are likely to find excellent ice creams in just about any flavor imaginable, but just like home cooking has its great appeal, making your own ice cream at home is something truly special. Whether you own the most simple machine or a semi-professional ice cream maker that is able to make one batch after another in large quantities, it all comes down to having a good recipe at hand. It is likely that your appliance had been shipped with a small recipe book or booklet, and you can certainly find many more recipes online, but here are some great recipes that have been tested and that you can use as they are or modify to suit your taste better:
Strawberry Melt
The ingredients that you need for this recipe are:
250 ml milk
500 ml cream
3 beaten yolks
2 cups of strawberries
1 tsp vanilla essence
100 g sugar
Mix the strawberries and 50g sugar in a bowl, mash them, and put them in your fridge. After that, mix the milk and the remaining sugar in a cooking pan, turn the heat on, and heat the mixture, but do not let it boil, and keep it on the heat until it thickens. Leave the mixture aside, once it cools down transfer it to a chilling bowl, and place it in the freezer for approximately three hours. Once the time is up, add the vanilla essence, the strawberry mash, and the cream to the sauce, and have a mixture, ready for the ice cream maker.
Chocolate-Chip Cream with minty flavor
For this recipe, you need:
250 ml milk
250 ml cream
125 g grated chocolate
75 g castor sugar
1 tsp peppermint essence
Pour the milk into a cooking pan, add the sugar, and heat up gently, without letting the milk boil. When the mixture cools down, add the peppermint essence and the cream, and place the mixture in the ice cream maker. If it has an automatic dispenser, you can add the grated chocolate when the ice cream starts to thicken, but if it does not, you can add it even when it is completely ready.
Banana Freeze
The ingredients are:
375 ml milk or cream
3 ripe bananas
100 g sugar
Vanilla essence (few drops)
Pour the bananas with a fork or in a blender, add the milk and the sugar, mix well, and you are ready to add the blend to the ice cream machine.
